Dr. Roque Cardona Hernández
Spain
- Pediatrician specialized in pediatric endocrinology and Head of the Diabetes Unit at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (Barcelona).
He has developed his professional and research career at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona, complemented by fellowships at internationally renowned reference centers, including the Artificial Pancreas Group at Stanford University (Palo Alto, USA) and the Department of Epidemiology at Ulm University (Germany). In addition, through the ISPAD Science School scholarship, he completed a fellowship at the Diabetes Unit of Washington University in St. Louis, USA. - In the academic field, he is a Pediatric Residency Tutor in Pediatrics and Specific Areas at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and a teaching collaborator at the University of Barcelona. Internationally, he has been a member of the Executive Board of the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) since 2022, and previously served on its Advisory Council (2019–2022). He also participated as a co-author of the ISPAD Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines in 2022 and 2024.
- He is also the coordinator of the European centers of the SWEET Project and, since 2024, a member of the advisory committee of this registry. Since 2020, he has been part of the Diabetes Working Group of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Endocrinology (SEEP), whose Board of Directors he served on from 2018 to 2022.
- In the research field, he has published in high-impact journals and participated in numerous funded projects in pediatric diabetes, including trials on novel therapies for type 1 diabetes such as FABULINUS®, DIAGNODE-3®, BETA-PRESERVE®, CFZ533®, BARICADE-DELAY®, and BARICADE-PRESERVE®. He has also led epidemiological and technology-related studies on type 1 diabetes in Spain and internationally.
In 2022, he received the First Research Prize from the Spanish Society of Pediatric Endocrinology, and in 2025, the Professional Excellence Award from the Barcelona Medical Association for the implementation of the value-based pediatric diabetes management project.

Dr. Jaime Guevara-Aguirre - MD, PhD

- Graduated from Universidad Central de Quito, Ecuador, and Maastricht University, the Netherlands, with subspecialties in diabetes and cancer endocrinology. His areas of expertise include diabetology, reproductive biology, and endocrinology, with additional training at the Instituto Nacional de Nutrición and Universidad Autónoma de México.
- He is the founder and director of the Instituto de Endocrinología IEMYR; a courtesy professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida; and a Professor of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Universidad San Francisco de Quito. He is a member of several endocrinology and diabetes societies and has received numerous scientific distinctions, including the National Research Award from the Academia Ecuatoriana de Medicina, the “Vicente Rocafuerte” Medal for Scientific Merit awarded by the National Congress of Ecuador, and the prestigious 2023 Blizzard Award in pediatric endocrinology.
- He served as Scientific Advisor to the Vice Presidency and the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador. He also acted as an advisor to DSL in Texas, Tercica in California, USA, and Generex Biotechnology in Toronto, Canada. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. In 2012, he identified a new clinical entity (GRS), which will bear his name.

Dra. Tulay Guran - MD

- Tulay Guran is Professor for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology at Marmara University, School of Medicine, in Istanbul. She was trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology in Istanbul, Turkey, and in molecular endocrinology as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Birmingham, UK, where she started her research career in the field of rare disorders or steroidogenesis.
- Her research group at Marmara University studies rare causes of CAH, non-CAH primary adrenal insufficiency and disorders/differences of sex development. She participates in several national and international commissions (e.g. the European Society Pediatric Endocrinology ESPE, I-DSD, I-CAH) and research projects. She was a former coordinator or ESPE disorders/differences of sex development working group. She is in the steering committee of ESPE Winter School and ESPE Science Committee. She works as an associate editor in Hormone Research in Pediatrics and Journal of Endocrinological Investigation. She holds a member position in the Scientific Advisory Board of Turkish Ministry of Health Neonatal Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia screening program.
- Honors received: 2015 Young Investigator Award of ESPE.

Dra. Reiko Horikawa - MD, PhD

- Reiko Horikawa, MD, PhD is a distinguished pediatric endocrinologist from Japan, currently serving as Visiting Consultant at San Marco Clinic and the Showa Medical University Department of Pediatrics, and as Visiting Researcher at the National Center for Child Health and Development.
- She previously led the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the National Center for Child Health and Development for many years. Dr. Horikawa is internationally recognized for her work in growth, sex development and maturation, neuroendocrinology, and adrenal disorders.
- She has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed publications and has received numerous national and international awards, including the 2024 Distinguished Endocrinologist Award from the Japan Endocrine Society and the ESPE International Outstanding Clinician Award.

Dr. Michael A. Levine - MD, ML
USA
- Dr. Michael A. Levine is Chief Emeritus of Endocrinology and Diabetes and Director of the Center for Bone Health at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Levine holds the Lester Baker Endowed Chair and is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
- Dr. Levine completed his clinical training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and took dual fellowship training in Endocrinology and Genetics at the National Institutes of Health. He received a Master in Law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law.
- His research interests focus on the genetic basis of endocrine signaling defects. His primary clinical interests are endocrine diseases that affect bone and mineral metabolism, particularly osteoporosis, primary hyperparathyroidism, and hypoparathyroidism. Dr. Levine has an active research program that complements and extends his clinical studies. He has identified and characterized the molecular basis of various inherited disorders of mineral metabolism, including familial hypoparathyroidism, pseudohypoparathyroidism, the McCune Albright syndrome, type 2 generalized arterial calcification of infancy, and novel forms of vitamin D dependent rickets.
- Dr. Levine is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, American Society for Clinical Investigation, Association of American Physicians, the American Pediatric Society, and the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars, and has received awards that include the Distinguished Endocrinology Award from the American College of Endocrinology; the Frederic C. Bartter Award from the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research; the International Award from the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology; and the Judson Van Wyk Prize and the inaugural Senior Investigator Award from the Pediatric Endocrine Society.
